Title: Simulating time-dependent Schrödinger equation with Coarse-grained spectral projection (CGSP)
Abstract: Numerical simulation of unitary quantum evolution is notoriously difficult due to exponentially increasing dimensionality of the underlying Hilbert space. We opened up a new avenue for this problem by introducing the coarse-grained spectral projection (https://arxiv.org/abs/2007.09788) of initial quantum state, with machine learning as our main toolbox. In this 15-minute talk, I’ll focus on providing basic physics background and motivation for CGSP in a mathematician-friendly manner ---- No preknowledge in quantum physics beyond the recognition of Schrödinger equation is needed.
