The second-order accurate finite volume method used in the Athena++ astrophysics code is extended to a fourth-order accurate integrator. Smooth and discontinuous solutions of multi-dimensional gas dynamics problems are presented. The shock-capturing and contact discontinuity resolving abilities of the high-order algorithm are evaluated. Challenges of extending the method to magnetohydrodynamics and mapped grids are discussed.
