Abstract:  This talk is devoted to the review of recent progress in the study of the stability of shear flows for Navier Stokes equation near a boundary, as the viscosity goes to zero. In particular, I will detail the analysis of the resolvent of linearized Navier Stokes equation, namely so-called Orr Sommerfeld equations, in the case of stable and unstable profile, and discuss nonlinear instability results.
