Daniel Rockmore

Dan Rockmore is the William H. Neukom 1964 Professor of Computational Science at Dartmouth College, where he also directs the Neukom Institute for Computational Science and the Dartmouth Kalaniyot Program. He is also a member of the External Faculty at the Santa Fe Institute. His research spans applied and computational harmonic analysis — including fast Fourier transforms on groups — as well as network analysis. His recent interests are in the structure of LLMs and how the computational framework encodes the writing process.  He also writes about science and mathematics for a general audience, with work appearing in outlets such as The New Yorker and The New York Review of Books.
