Abstract: We conjecture that for a plasma in a spatial domain with a boundary, the specular reflection effect of the boundary can be approximated by a large magnetic confinement field in the near-boundary region. We verify this conjecture for the 1.5D relativistic Vlasov-Maxwell system (RVM) on a bounded domain \Omega = (0, 1) with an external confining magnetic field.

Abstract:
Beltrami fields on a 3-dimensional compact manifold are eigenfields of the curl operator. They describe a stationary ideal fluid whose vorticity and velocity are aligned. In this talk I will show that Beltrami fields on the torus and the sphere have an interesting property, which we call inverse localization, that can be used to construct fields with prescribed dynamics at small scales.
