In this talk, I will review some of the top "patch-based" algorithms in image processing (image denoising in particular). By patch-based algorithms, one refers to algorithms that work by exploiting the correlation that usually exists between small patches (group of pixels) in natural images. I will review the basic intuition and principle behind some of the notable algorithms in this class that undoubtedly qualify as state-of-the-art methods in image denoising.
